Size & Location:
7,100 acres - There could be an additional 2,100 acres joining that can be added to this property which would include a ranch headquarters. Located in Northern New Mexico at the foothills of the rocky mountains in Rio Arriba County, Approximately 20 miles South-West of Chama, NM.
General:
A blue ribbon trout fishing in the Chama River and El Vado Lake.The property is very scenic and averages around 6,000’ in elevation.Several springs and 15 ponds on the property with plenty of room for more water development. The property has paved road access and great development potential.
Water:
The ranch is well watered with over 15 ponds. There are several springs that could also be developed to feed lakes on the ranch. In addition there is one artesian water well on the ranch. The owner is currently in the process of drilling three new water wells which should be completed by fall of 2007. The completion of the wells will be included with the purchase of the property. Ground water is readily available throughout the ranch at an average depth of 300 feet.
Wildlife:
The ranch borders the “Rio Chama Wildlife Management Area” providing a refuge for big bull elk and mule deer. For the 2007 season, the ranch received an allotment of 75 elk tags which are transferable to the new owner. During a game survey in December of 2006, the ranch supported over 600 head of elk and 350 head of mule deer.
